Legacy

Grupo XDS stands as one of Mexico’s longest-running service providers in additive manufacturing, with a history dating back to 2009. Founded by four engineering students, the company quickly distinguished itself through its technical expertise and commitment to innovation.

In 2011, Grupo XDS undertook the ambitious task of replicating the entire Ruta de la Amistad sculpture series at scale. The following year, two of the remaining founders led the 3D scanning and reproduction of the Monumento Tortuguero, a monumental 9ft tall Mayan relic. Despite the complexity of the project, only two key individuals (supported by two assistants) successfully produced three full-scale replicas, a project valued at $50,000 USD.

By 2013, Mario Martínez was the sole remaining founder, and in 2014, Grupo XDS became the first official reseller of Zortrax in Mexico. Between 2013 and 2016, the company operated as a single-person enterprise, surpassing several leading firms in terms of reach, efficiency, and capacity despite competing against well-funded and long-established companies.

In mid-2016, Ivonne Ramírez joined as an associate, bringing a renewed focus on customer service and business growth. Through relentless effort and strategic expansion, the company achieved a 20% increase in sales in 2019 compared to the previous year.

Even amidst the global challenges of 2020, Grupo XDS remained resilient—operations never ceased, and the company achieved yet another 20% growth. In 2022, Grupo XDS moved to a 200m² industrial facility, now home to over 60 machines, solidifying its position as a leader in the field.

Over nearly 15 years, Grupo XDS has faced and overcome countless challenges. Many of the competitors that emerged during the early years or the industry hype have since vanished, often due to overpromising and underdelivering. In contrast, the company’s legacy is built on hard work, vision, and perseverance—thriving in a market often plagued by low-quality services, poor customer experience, and unfair competition.
