ABOUT:
The Big Builder 3D printer, manufactured by the Dutch company Builder 3D Printers (formerly Code-P West), was one of the first large-format desktop 3D printers.
Aside from its size, another distinctive feature of the Big Builder was the Dual-Feed Extruder system, developed by the manufacturer. This system allowed printing with two different colors through a single nozzle, enabling color mixing during the printing process. This, in turn, opened up the possibility of creating color gradients using a dedicated mixing tool.
The Big Builder also offered the capability to print with flexible filaments, supported by improved extruder gears with larger teeth, which enhanced filament grip and reduced sticking during unloading.
The Big Builder was compatible with open-source software such as Cura and Repetier Host and supported Windows XP+ and macOS 10.5+ systems.
The printer was highly regarded for its high print quality when properly configured, especially with PLA and PVA materials, and for its ability to create tall objects — a rare feature in its price category.
